About us
The Mead is a three-form entry Infant School. There are three classes of 30 children in each year group, making nine classes in total. The Mead also has a Nursery for 65 children. We are able to offer 26 morning and 39 thirty hour places. We also have a specialist provision for up to 9 deaf children.
We work very closely with our Junior School Auriol which is on the adjoining site. We have feeder status which means that all children who attend the Mead have a priority place at Auriol. Together we are working to create a Primary Community, and we have ensured that there is a seamless transition for the children when they move on to Auriol at the end of year 2.
The school is housed in one building with two playgrounds, and we share a large playing field with Auriol. Our EYFS wing houses our Nursery and Reception classrooms and outdoor learning spaces. These are bright and vibrant learning spaces which are well resourced.
The Key Stage 1 wing has classrooms for children aged 5-7 which has recently been refurbished. It has an attractive well-stocked library, and a hall with a range of gym equipment. All the classrooms have sound field systems, acoustic ceilings and are carpeted, giving us excellent conditions for listening and learning. The school is well resourced with a range of equipment to support learning including Chrome books.
The Mead is a popular school where all members of the school community are "Proud to Belong"
