Dear Parents and Carers,

As we come to the end of this academic year, it is with great pride that I look back at the great progress that the children have made and how hard they have all worked. The children enjoyed school trips, a fantastic sports day topped off by a great summer school fair which brought the Mead and Auriol community together.

Thank you to all the parents who completed the parent questionnaire. We had a good response with 187 replies. We will share the results in September with any actions that the school will be taking.

We say a fond farewell to our brilliant Year 2’s and their families, wishing them the very best of luck as they embark on their new school adventures. We have genuinely loved teaching them during the past 4 years, watching their  individual characters develop. For some, we have seen 2 or 3 children from the same family come through our doors; to them we say a very big thank you for supporting and trusting us and being part of The Mead family. For some, you will be continuing your journey with us.  

Thank you to all of our parents and carers for your support and positive working relationships that you have developed with the school. 

Finally, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of my amazing staff for their hard work this term.  Our continued strong results reflect both their commitment to providing the best education for our children. 

I wish you all a very happy and safe summer break, hopefully with some sunshine!

                                    Attendance 

End of year whole school attendance currently stands at 95.5 %. 

Attendance is strongly linked to how well pupils achieve; for this reason, the attendance of all pupils is closely monitored.  Unless your child is unwell, the expectation is that your child attends school every day.

The importance of good attendance has also been taught to the children in assemblies this year and they have enjoyed being attendance heroes

The Mead Infant and Nursery School - Attendance

                        Mental Health Support

All children young people and families can access additional support and strategies through Mindworks Surrey at any time without needing a referral. This includes:

• Access to general advice and support through an out of hours advice line for Neurodevelopmental support (0300 222 5755), which is available from 5pm-11pm, seven days a week, 365 days a year.
  
  This provides advice and signposting support to parents and carers who are struggling with behaviours, challenges or difficulties which could be related to neurodevelopmental needs, such as those associated with ADHD or Autism.
   
• Access to a 24/7 mental health crisis line (0800 915 4644) for children aged from six years, young people and their families or carers whose needs require immediate support.
  
  The Crisis Line is staffed by a professional who will provide advice, support, and signposting to a range of community services. It is open 24/7 and should be used when a child or young person’s needs mean they require support in that moment and where there is a concern about managing safety needs.
  
  Strategies and interventions that may be helpful are also available on the website: Neurodevelopmental needs Mindworks Surrey.
   
• A Learners' Single Point of Access (0300 200 1015) for parents or carers with concerns about additional educational needs of a child living in Surrey.
   

The service is open from 9am to 5pm, Monday to Friday, all year round (except bank holidays).
